More Than $7M in Incentives Keep U.S. Cellular in Illinois

10/08/2010
The state of Illinois is extending U.S. Cellular more than $7 million in a business investment package to keep the company's headquarters in Chicago and retain 1,100 jobs. U.S. Cellular will also stay in its Bensenville, Illinois, location and create an additional 25 jobs.

"We are proud to call the state of Illinois our home, and we look forward to continuing to serve its residents and all of our other customers around the country with the first-rate wireless service they deserve," said Tom Weber, vice president of financial and real estate Services for U.S. Cellular.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) will administer the package, which consists of Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credits. The funds will leverage more than $14.6 million in private investment.
