Mercedes Supplier Expanding in Alabama

Eberspaecher North America, a supplier of automotive parts for Mercedes
Benz vehicles, will invest $7 million to open a catalytic converter
manufacturing operation in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Tuscaloosa News
reports that the company will create 37 new jobs with the project,
which will involve relocating the operation from its current base in
Michigan. Eberspaecher, a subsidiary of Germany-based Eberspaecher
Group, will lease 50,000 square feet in a building at the Airport
Industrial Park; the company is a Tier 1 supplier for the Mercedes Benz
U.S. International company in Vance, Alabama, and has another operation
in the state. Incentives offered to the company include local property
and sales tax abatements of $308,543.
