Steel Fabricator Expanding Facilities in Louisiana

03/16/2009
Southland Steel Fabricators, which provides steel fabrication services for industrial and heavy commercial markets, will invest $1.5 million to expand its facilities in Greensburg, Louisiana, according to the Louisiana governor's office. The company plans to create 35 new jobs with an average annual salary of $36,000, and will also retain 141 existing positions. Southland will expand its existing headquarters and fabrication facility by 50,400 square feet and construct an additional 32,000-square-foot building; the company will also add $400,000 worth of equipment for a new paint shop. Construction is expected to begin immediately with completion scheduled for early 2010. Southland has applied for incentives that include a cash rebate, industrial tax exemption, and loans from the state, all contingent on job creation, retention, and maintenance of specific payroll levels.
