UnitedHealth Builds Second Minnesota Facility

03/19/2010
UnitedHealth Group Inc. will begin construction this summer on a new, 190,000-square-foot data center in Chaska, Minn. according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal. The project represents an investment of approximately $100 million to $150 million, and will eventually attract 8,000 to 10,000 jobs to the area.

UnitedHealth spokesman Will Holman said the company will "build a state-of-the-art data center facility" to support the corporation's "continued growth, and help increase the company's data center capabilities."

In 2008, UnitedHealth built a 189,000-square-foot facility in Elk River that cost $125 million and was supported by a tax abatement. The Chaska facility is expected to be completed by mid-2012.
