Bayer Subsidiary Investing Nearly $19 Million for Expansion in Idaho

Nunhems, the vegetable seed business of Bayer CropScience AG, will invest nearly $19 million to expand its U.S. facilities in Parma, Idaho. A company statement says Nunhems plans to build new seed processing and storage facilities, upgrade equipment, and expand administrative, marketing, and logistics functions. "This investment lays the foundation for the sustainable growth of our vegetable seed business in the U.S. and worldwide," says Joachim Schneider, head of the bioscience business unit at Bayer CropScience. "The objective of the expansion of our seed production in the U.S. is to efficiently meet the needs of our customers in the future." The Idaho facility currently has 150 full-time employees; no information about job creation was released by the company. Nunhems and Bayer CropScience are subsidiaries of Germany-based Bayer AG.
