Aviation Contractor Expanding, Adding Jobs in North Carolina
Area Development Online News Desk (04/14/2009)
DRS Technical Services Inc., a supplier of products and services to the military and civilian aviation industries, will expand its facilities in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina governor's office. The company plans to create at least 100 new jobs over the next two years at an average annual salary of $48,779 plus benefits. "When DRS explored expanding our global aircraft services business, North Carolina worked harder to rise above other possible locations," says Al Dietrich, president of DRS's C3 and Aviation Group. "State, county, and local government agencies worked closely with us to support our expansion plans and create good-paying new jobs." The Raleigh News & Observer reports that the New Jersey-headquartered company will receive a grant of up to $1.18 million from the state, under the condition that the company creates the promised jobs and maintains them for nine years; additional incentives include a reduced lease rate on the airport facility and a lower rate on city utilities.
