Refrigeration Manufacturer Investing $10.6 Million in South Carolina
Area Development Online News Desk (05/01/2009)
Universal Nolin Company LLC, a manufacturer of refrigeration equipment, will invest $10.6 million to locate a facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina, according to state commerce officials. The company plans to create more than 150 new jobs with the project. Universal Nolin will move into a former Beverage Air factory that closed when that company moved its production lines to Mexico. Universal Nolin has relocated these production lines and the associated operating assets back to to Spartanburg under the Universal Nolin brand name. "South Carolina has been hurt in the past by jobs leaving the country," says Jim Kaufman, CEO of Universal Nolin. "We are excited at the prospect of relocating hundreds of jobs from Mexico back to the United States, and in particular South Carolina." Universal Nolin is a subsidiary of National Consolidated Industries, which produces the Kelvinator line of refrigeration equipment. State officials did not release information regarding financial incentives.
