Lakeside Steel Builds New Thomasville, Alabama Facility

07/29/2010
Lakeside Steel will build a new manufacturing plant in Thomasville, Alabama, adding 192,000 tons of capacity and nearly doubling the facility's current capabilities. Lakeside will spend approximately $40 million on the project and create 120 jobs.

The company is also investing in its Welland facility with $9.5 million in capital improvements. It plans to spend another $6 million for the remainder of fiscal year 2011. Lakeside produces tubings and casings at the plants.

Lakeside selected Thomasville for its proximity to raw goods suppliers and customers. The facility will be the city's largest industrial employer when completed. Construction will begin in the fall, and production is scheduled to start by December 2011.
