09/28/2017
Hino Motors Manufacturing President Takashi Ono said the move into a 1-million square foot distribution center, owned by the Wood County Development Authority, was necessary for the firm to expand and grow. The company plans to hire 250 additional associates during the next few years.
The company, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in West Virginia, assembles medium-duty trucks at its 245,000-square foot facility in Williamstown.
The company expects the new location to be operational by 2019. Ono said the new facility allow the firm to combine several assembly plant operations and localize parts production in the US from plants in Japan.
The new plant is four times the size of its current facility. Ono added the close proximity of the new plant to its current facility will allow the firm to maintain its family of 300 team members, while investing in infrastructure and continued growth.
