Area Development
In February 2008, Boeing Canada Technology opened a new 112,000-square-foot production plant in Winnipeg for assembly of some of the large composite parts the Winnipeg subsidiary is building for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The new facility employs some 200 workers.

Boeing Winnipeg has the largest composite parts manufacturing operation in the country and makes parts for the whole range of Boeing planes. It is a Tier I supplier on the new 787, building landing gear doors, wing-to-body fairings, and other parts for the new plane, which will be over 50 percent comprised of composite materials to minimize weight and increase fuel efficiency. Boeing Winnipeg will also supply engine strut forward and aft pylons for the 787 as a Tier II partner of another supplier.
