Intel’s two new Arizona fabs that represent a $20 billion investment will make an impact on the semiconductor shortage resulting from pandemic-induced supply chain snarls.

The prominent chipmaker is building two new semiconductor facilities at its Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona, and at $20 billion, it’s that state’s largest private investment ever. Some 3,000 new high-wage jobs are on the way, making the company’s most advanced processors.
{{RELATEDLINKS}} The two new facilities, dubbed Fab 52 and Fab 62, are expected to be operational by 2024. The campus will then have a total of six fabs. Arizona already is a semiconductor manufacturing hub — the sector employs more than 22,000 people and has a wage impact of more than $8 billion, a number that with Intel’s help will continue to grow.
