Area Development
Greatbatch Medical, a maker of surgical orthopedic products and medical instruments, has selected Fort Wayne, Indiana, for a new facility that will create 76 jobs. The company will begin building the facility in the spring and will invest more than $17 million in the expansion.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered Greatbatch up to $750,000 in performance-based tax credits. Allen County will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.

Greatbatch also has a site in Whitley County, which it will move to an 80,000-square-foot facility in Allen County. The company already employs more than 100 people in northeast Indiana.
