Major Tool & Machine, an engineering, fabrication, and machining
services company, will invest $20 million to add 150,000 square feet of
manufacturing space and automated production equipment to its
operations in Indianapolis, according to Indiana economic development
officials. The expansion is expected to create at least 50 new jobs.
The new space will be built on the grounds of a former manufacturing
facility currently classified as brownfield; the city has invested more
than $3 million in the cleanup of the site. J. Stephen Weyreter,
president and CEO of Major Tool, says the expansion will increase the
60-year-old, homegrown company's work force by 20 percent and double
its operating space.
