The United Auto Workers (UAW) have begun a threatened strike against Chrysler LLC, the second UAW strike against an American automobile company in the last three weeks. Multiple sources, including CNN and The New York Times, report that workers have left the factories and are setting up picket lines outside work sites. The union and Chrysler have been negotiating a new four-year contract. The strike affects more than 45,000 workers at 24 manufacturing plants and 22 other facilities spread across 14 states. However, five facilities in Michigan, Delaware, and Illinois are being exempted from the strike, as they have previously been tagged for shutdown by the company. Negotiations are expected to continue during the walkout.
