Procter & Gamble Family Care will construct a new plant in Box
Elder County, Utah, in a $300 million investment that is expected to
create an initial 300 new jobs. According to company officials, the new
facility will produce Bounty paper towels and Charmin bathroom tissue,
and will include energy and water conservation technologies in both the
design and construction. Groundbreaking on the new plant is planned for
early 2008, with initial production beginning in early 2010. "This
facility will increase the number of skilled jobs available in northern
Utah while enabling P&G to better serve consumers in the western
U.S.," says Mary Lynn Ferguson-McHugh, president of P&G Family
Care. The facility is the first new Family Care manufacturing facility
built in the United States since 1973. Prior to the announcement, the
Governer's Office of Economic Development Board approved a potential
$85 million tax rebate incentive.
