Onward Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of barbecue gas grills for retail sale, will invest several million dollars to locate a production facility in Huntington, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The Canada-headquartered company plans to create more than 300 new jobs over the next two years, and has already begun the hiring process. "We are very confident about the benefits provided by manufacturing in the United States," says Ted Witzel, Onward's CEO. "A highly skilled work force, efficient production practices, and access to high-quality materials will enable us to provide our customers with a higher quality product while maintaining competitive prices. We are proud to support the North American work force and look forward to working with the Huntington community." The state has offered Onward up to $1.6 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation; the city will provide additional property tax abatement.
