Toyota Boshoku America, a subsidiary of Toyota Boshoku Corporation, based in Kariya City, Japan, will invest $21 million to increase operations at its plant in Mantachie, Mississippi, creating 180 new jobs.

TBMS manufactures seat components and door panels for the Toyota Corolla, which is manufactured in Blue Springs, Mississippi. This announcement will increase their component production and for the new Corolla as well as another regional original equipment manufacturer.

“We look forward to future growth, our continuous commitment to Itawamba County and the great state of Mississippi,” said Toyota Boshoku President and COO Teruo Suzuki.

When the company began production in 2011, Toyota Boshoku America had invested $49 million in its 404,000-square-foot facility and employed approximately 230 workers. For that project, the Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance for site preparation, infrastructure needs and workforce training.

“Today, Toyota Boshoku is strengthening Mississippi’s position in both the domestic and global markets by expanding its operations and adding these new jobs to increase production capacity at its Itawamba County facility,” Gov. Phil Bryant said. “I am grateful to the team at Toyota Boshoku Mississippi for demonstrating to the world that Mississippi is a great place to do business, and I wish the company continued success in our state.”

“MDA was glad to have assisted this great company when it first announced plans to locate in Mantachie to supply parts to the nearby Toyota manufacturing facility,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. “Since that time, TBMS has been a valued member of Mississippi’s business community, and this increase serves as a testament to the favorable, supportive business climate and skilled workforce found in our state.”
