New Mexico Fresh Foods will locate its new manufacturing facility in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The project is expected to create 138 new full-time jobs, 74 of which are directly tied to the LEDA grant, county officials explained.

Bernalillo County noted it is the fiscal agent for a state-issued Local Economic Development Act grant for New Mexico Fresh Foods in the amount of $750,000. The LEDA grant initiative for New Mexico Fresh Foods was approved by unanimous vote. Additionally, the county is applying for a Community Development Block Grant (CMBG) in the amount of $500,000 to assist New Mexico Fresh Foods with the purchase of equipment.

The assistance will include infrastructure improvements and equipment. Also, Bernalillo County approved a $9-million industrial revenue bond for the project.

“This is just another prime example of the county believing in the businesses that choose to locate here,” says Bernalillo County Commission Chair Lonnie Talbert. “It’s a win/win because without the grants these businesses can’t get up and running and without the businesses, the county can’t grow.”

New Mexico Fresh Foods is a newly formed company that is using a revolutionary high pressure processing technology to keep just-made foods fresher longer without the use of preservatives and allow other local food manufacturers to distribute their products further, local officials said.
