Novamet Specialty Products Corporation plans to locate its headquarters, primary office and manufacturing facility on 97 acres in Lebanon, Tennessee. The company’s relocation to Wilson County represents an investment of $8.6 million and will create 43 new jobs over the next four years.

“The people of Novamet are excited about relocating to Tennessee and being a part of the thriving, yet comfortable, community in Lebanon and participating in the bright future we believe lies in store for it,” Novamet CEO Jeff Peterson said. “We are proud to bring a number of highly skilled workers from New Jersey and jump start our transition here in this wonderful community. We are grateful to the leaders here in Lebanon, Wilson County and the state of Tennessee for facilitating our transition in multiple ways.”

The company purchased the former Toshiba manufacturing facility in the Lebanon Industrial Center and plans to develop the site into a center of manufacturing businesses. The firm plans to establish an approximately 500,000 square foot facility, with an additional 350,000 square feet available for further development.

Novamet produces more than 60 different products including tightly-sized powders, metallic flakes for paints and electronic applications, coated materials and specialty oxides for industries throughout the world. Currently, Novamet’s highly refined materials are used in the production of fuel cells, catalytic converters for engines to reduce pollution, batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles, electronic insulating materials for cell phones and cell towers, as well as in various other applications requiring the specific morphological and/or chemical properties sought by highly advanced manufacturers.

“When a global company like Novamet chooses Tennessee as its home base, it underscores the unique advantages that help our state stand at the forefront amongst competitors around the world,” Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty said. “Novamet is sure to be a terrific addition to the corporate landscape of Wilson County. I appreciate the company’s decision to locate here and welcome them to our great state.”

“Novamet is an example of a company looking for a new home and discovering Lebanon as a place which meets their needs and insures a prosperous future,” Lebanon Mayor Philip Craighead said. “We are excited about the renovation of an older manufacturing facility and being able to see new life being breathed into this location as well as our community. We welcome Novamet’s team to Lebanon and look forward to our future partnerships.”

“TVA congratulates Novamet Specialty Products officials on their decision to locate a production facility in Lebanon and create new investments and jobs for the Wilson County community,” John Bradley, TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development, said. “TVA and Middle Tennessee Electric appreciate the opportunity to work with the state of Tennessee, city and county leaders to help recruit Novamet and support their continued success.”

“We are excited to bring another corporate headquarters and manufacturer to Lebanon and Wilson County,” G.C. Hixson, Executive Director of the Joint Economic and Community Development Board of Wilson County, said. “This project was made possible through the continual support of the Wilson County Commission through their incentive partnerships and the leadership of the JECDB. The former Toshiba facility now identified as the Lebanon Industrial Center will continue to bring additional jobs and investments to the community. We would like to thank Mr. Jeff Peterson for their commitment and vote of confidence in our community.”
