Com.40 Ltd., a manufacturer of mattresses and upholstered furniture based in Nowe Skalmierzyce, Poland, will invest $36.3 million to open a facility in Danville, Virginia. The project is expected to create 813 new jobs. The new plant will supply mattresses and upholstery to IKEA furniture stores in North America. Bogdan Kaczmarek, Com.40's CEO, calls Danville "the perfect choice" for the company to enter the North American market. "The strategic location and solid transportation infrastructure puts us in close proximity to IKEA stores on the East Coast, as well as component suppliers," he says. According to the Virginia governor's office, the company will receive at least $2.5 million in tax breaks and other incentives.
