General Dynamics Land Systems has received a $37 million contract for systems technical support work on Abrams battle tanks, according to the U. S. Army Tacom Life Cycle Management Command. The Michigan-based company is expected to complete the work by December 2011.

The contract will fund additional engineering studies at General Dynamics' headquarters to develop improvements on the tanks.

General Dynamics also has a three-year, $45 million contract to produce components of an M1A1 tank for Egypt's army.
