Continental Airlines will lay off 150 ground workers at seven U. S. airports beginning June 1. The layoffs will affect employees in Providence, Rhode Island; Greensboro, North Carolina; Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; and St. Louis and Kansas City. Continental will fill those positions with contract workers, according to the Houston Business Journal.

In February, Continental announced the layoffs of 600 reservation agents, as travelers increasingly booked flights online. Last May, Continental eliminated 500 reservation agent positions and closed a call center in Tampa.
