Area Development
Captive-Aire Systems Inc., a North Carolina-based manufacturer of ventilation systems for kitchens, will build a manufacturing facility in Bedford, Pennsylvania. As part of the $6 million project, the company will renovate an existing 67,000-square-foot building, expanding it by an additional 14,000 square feet. More than 75 new jobs are expected over a three-year period. Captive-Aire President Bob Luddy cited the location's proximity to Penn State University and "the reputation of the highly skilled and proficient craftsmen of Western Pennsylvania" as critical factors in the location decision. The company will receive state incentives worth nearly $3 million, including a $1.35 million loan for machinery and equipment, job training funds, and tax breaks.
