HostGator, a website hosting company, will hire 300 people over the next three years as it expands into Austin, Texas. The company already employs 200 people.

"We do business all over the globe," said Lance Custen, president and CEO of HostGator. "Because Austin is such a hot market, we felt comfortable investing in property for our company's continued growth."

The company will occupy space in a 100,000-square-foot building. HostGator has headquarters in Houston and hosts three million Internet domain names, or approximately 2 percent of the world's Web traffic.

Brent Oxley, now the company's board chairman, founded HostGator as a college student at Florida Atlantic University. Inc. magazine rated it the fastest growing private company in Texas.
