Engineering services company Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is relocating and expanding operations in Tupelo, Mississippi. The company plans to invest $500,000 and is expected to create 25 jobs.

Hyperion’s rapid growth requires the company to relocate to a larger facility to fulfill additional contracts. Hyperion will move from its current 11,000-square-foot facility to a 48,000-square-foot facility formerly used as a beverage distribution center.

Since our beginning in 2009, we have received a tremendous amount of support from the governor, Mississippi Development Authority, the city of Tupelo and the Community Development Foundation, as well as our federal and state legislators, without which we would not be as successful as we are today, and we are very thankful for their ongoing support,” said Hyperion President & CEO Geoffrey Carter. “The opportunities in Mississippi are endless, and we have been fortunate to be in a position to attract many customers from the United States and around the world to demonstrate the many opportunities Mississippi has to offer.

“I often tell people that it is a privilege to work with some of the smartest and most technically creative people in the world, and that includes our employees, the researchers at our state universities and the other companies we partner with in the state,” he added.

Hyperion Technology Group, which started in 2009 at the Renasant Center for IDEAs, provides custom electronic systems, such as embedded systems, signal processing, intelligent power and control systems, to government and industry consumers around the world. Hyperion Technology Group currently employs 37 workers in Tupelo. The company plans to begin operations in its new facility in early summer.

Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for building renovations, as well as a loan to the city of Tupelo for the purchase of the building. Hyperion will lease the facility on a long-term basis from the city.
