Area Development
Goodrich, a manufacturer of commercial aerospace and defense sensors, is planning an expansion that could bring 500 new jobs to Burnsville, North Carolina, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. The company, which is based in Charlotte, will spend more than $16 million to initially add 52,000 square feet to its existing 243,000-square-foot facility.

The company may add even more space for the long-term project, potentially investing a total of $300 million in Burnsville. Goodrich has asked the state for a sales tax exemption for the project through 2015.
