Cummins Turbo Technologies, a manufacturer of turbochargers for diesel engines, will invest $11 million and create 100 new jobs at one of its Charleston, South Carolina, facilities. The company, a division of Indiana-based Cummins Inc., plans to add assembly and machining capacity at the two-year-old plant in Palmetto Commerce Park. "I am pleased to recognize the efforts of all our local employees by continuing to expand capacity for existing products and new products to meet the 2010 EPA legislation for North America," says Jim Lyons, the company's president. Lyons says that sales of the company's turbochargers have grown in response to the updated federal emissions rules that will require off-road vehicles to maintain higher fuel standards.
