Cox Machine Inc., a manufacturer of parts and assemblies for the aerospace industry, will invest $4.4 million to expand its facilities in Wichita, Kansas. The Wichita Business Journal reports that the company plans to create 50 new jobs over the next three to five years as part of the project. Cox will add 30,000 square feet to its main facility, which, company COO Brenna Davis tells the Journal, will allow the company to keep its operations entirely in Wichita. She says Cox officials approached state and local economic development agencies about its expansion requirements, which are necessary to accommodate the company's growing contracts from outside the geographic area. "We explained the fact that we could go to the markets where these customers were ... but that we'd like to stay in Wichita," she tells the Journal. As a result, the company will receive a collaborative incentive package; neither state officials nor the company released details on the amount. The expansion is expected to be completed within six months.
