Sloan Construction Company Inc., a provider of heavy construction and excavation services, will invest $15 million to build a new facility in Blacksburg, South Carolina, according to state commerce officials. The project, an aggregate mining facility that will produce materials used primarily for road construction, is expected to generate 40 new jobs. The company has two other facilities in the area. "South Carolina and Cherokee County have always provided us with an excellent business environment and available labor force," says Scott Fant, the company's manager of business development. "We appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials in making this project a reality." Construction is scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of this year, with full operations expected by the second quarter of 2010.
