The world's leading cereal company, second largest producer of cookies, crackers and snacks and a leading North American frozen foods company, Kellogg Company will invest $15 million to expand its production facility in Muncy, Pennsylvania, adding a robotic packing line to serve its club store customers. The investment will result in the retention of 323 manufacturing jobs in Lycoming County.

“We are partnering with companies like Kellogg to grow Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector and support family-sustaining jobs,” Governor Tom Corbett said. The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team in conjunction with the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce.

The company received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development including $140,000 in Guaranteed Free Training which will be used for skills training for employees to learn how to operate the new robotic production line. Kellogg has accepted the funding proposal, but must still apply for the grant and agree to the terms prior to award receipt.

“We are appreciative of the investment by the commonwealth into the expansion of the Kellogg’s Muncy plant; our community is fortunate to have Kellogg’s reinvesting in the operations at this facility,” said Jason Fink, Executive Vice President of the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce. “The employees at the plant have shown the solid work ethic embodied here in Lycoming County. Their work and the solid management personnel in place at the facility have provided the foundation for this growth thereby enabling area residents to obtain new employment at Kellogg’s.”
