Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, a manufacturer and marketer of consumer lawn and garden products, will expand its headquarters and manufacturing campus in Marysville, Ohio, and purchase a new 550,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution center in Orrville, Ohio. The company says in a statement that the two projects will create approximately 100 new jobs. Scotts will invest approximately $26 million to expand the manufacturing facility in Marysville to process a key ingredient in the company's EZ Seed lawn patching product, with plans for wide U.S. distribution of the product in 2010 and European distribution by 2011. A new office building will also be built in Marysville to alleviate overcrowding in the company's existing headquarters facility, with plans to open in 2010. "These expansion efforts are the result of our continued success, and reflect our optimism in the future," says Jim Hagedorn, Scott's Miracle-Gro's chair and CEO. "They also speak to our commitment to being an important employer in central Ohio." The state will provide financial incentives of more than $500,000 to the company.
