AirMods, a provider of outsourced design and fabrication services for aircraft modifications, will triple its facility size to provide engineering and fabrication support for its client companies who modify aircraft in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
According to company officials, this expansion is expected to bring up to a dozen new jobs to the Colorado Springs Airport over the next 12 months. The expansion project will include sheet metal fabrication and assembly capabilities.
AirMods recently signed a 5-year lease to secure over 5,600 square feet of manufacturing space and engineering offices to meet growing customer demands. AirMods is currently pursuing both FAA-PMA (Parts Manufacturing Authority) and AS9100 quality certifications.
"AirMods does not operate a hangar or perform modification work directly, so our customers can rely on us to support their modifications and not compete with them," said Todd Bailey, AirMods LLC President.
Founded in 2014, AirMods LLC specializes in aircraft modification structural design and fabrication services for special missions aircraft such as ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance), firefighting, weather research aircraft, and commercial derivative aircraft for US and foreign military use.
AirMods said its engineers and technicians have designed and fabricated sheet metal clips and doublers, mission consoles, ISR sensor mounts, instrument panels, and complex electromechanical assemblies meeting military requirements. AirMods also provides structural engineering support for electrical and avionics upgrades of business, commercial, and general aviation aircraft.
