Schar USA, part of Italian-based company Dr. Schar Srl, is building its first U.S. facility in Logan, New Jersey. Schar is a top European producer of gluten-free foods.

Schar graduated from the Rutgers Food Innovation Center. It will invest more than $15 million in the facility and will create more than 50 jobs. The initial site plans are for a 50,000-square-foot space, with the option to add another 30,000 square feet.

Schar produces gluten-free breads, pasta, cookies, crackers, and frozen meals.
