In its January LaborView report, CB Richard Ellis says that call center job creation was positive in 2010. Call centers created an average of more than 6,000 jobs each month throughout last year. Over-the-year job losses all remained below 2,000 positions each month. In September, only 440 jobs were lost.

Some major U.S. expansions included 1,000 jobs created at Talk2Rep in Tamarac, Florida; 500 new jobs at Penncro Associates in Bryan, Texas; and 408 new positions at Arvato Digital Services in Weaverville, North Carolina.

Overall, the U.S. call center sector created a net 3,845 jobs in December, slightly down from the 4,561 net jobs it added in November 2010.

In the United States, the financial services sector created more than 30 percent of call center jobs. Telecommunications created nearly 24 percent of the positions, and outsourcing added another 14.5 percent of the jobs.
