RTI International Metals, Inc., a producer of titanium mill products and fabricated metal components, will open a manufacturing facility at an industrial park in Martinsville, Virginia. According to the Virginia governor's office, the Ohio-based company will invest $100 million and create 150 new jobs at the new plant, which will manufacture titanium for the aerospace industry. "The incentive package that Virginia offered included an already constructed building, and the proximity of cost-effective utilities [was] instrumental in our choosing the site," says Dawne Hickton, vice chair and CEO of RTI International Metals. State and local economic development agencies approved approximately $2 million in financial incentives for the project, along with job training assistance.
