GeoEye Inc., a satellite and aerial geospatial services firm, will invest $10 million to relocate its headquarters to Herndon, Virginia. The company will create 100 jobs in the coming three years, and relocate 230 in-state employees to Herndon in 2011.
"This move reflects the continuing growth of our company, and it is an important strategic step toward reinforcing our position as a premier provider of satellite and aerial geospatial information technology and services," said Matt O'Connell, GeoEye's CEO and president.
The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide training assistance through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. The company is also eligible for a Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit. GeoEye considered Maryland and Colorado before choosing Virginia.
GeoEye will seek LEED silver certification for the facility.
