Southland Renewable Fuel, LLC, plans to construct a state-of-the-art
biodiesel manufacturing facility in the new Riverport West Industrial
Park in Paducah, Ky. The company will use the latest technology - which
utilizes an environmentally friendly "waterless wash" process, with
virtually no air emissions - to create clean-burning alternative fuel.
The facility will process 60 million gallons of fuel and six million
gallons of pharmaceutical grade glycerin annually. This will be the first large-scale biodiesel facility in
western Kentucky. Phase I of the construction represents a $60 million
capital investment and 25 employees. Phase II consists of an additional
$40 million capital investment and 40 more employees, as well as the
addition of a tank farm and crushing facility. Both phases are expected
to be completed within three years.
