Contract Fabricators invested more than $1 million to expand its manufacturing center to Iuka, Mississippi at the Yellow Creek Port, with plans to hire about 50 workers.

Contract Fabricators, which produces large pressure vessels for oil refineries, power plants, chemical plants, also has operations in Holly Springs, Miss., where the company employs 125 workers.

"Contract Fabricators, Inc., searched in several states for a waterfront location. We were most impressed with the teamwork in Mississippi and Tishomingo County," said Contract Fabricators Vice President and co-owner Mike Clarkson. "We appreciate the fine partnership we enjoy with the state and county and look forward to growing our business in Mississippi.

In Iuka, Mississippi, the company moved into the 97,280 square foot facility formerly occupied by Dynasteel at Yellow Creek Port. Yellow Creek Port, part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, 25 miles from Corinth, is a 234 mile long waterway that connects the Tombigbee River in Alabama to the Tennessee River. The Tombigbee River exits into the Gulf of Mexico just south of Mobile, Alabama.

"I am always pleased when one of Mississippi's existing businesses chooses to expand and further invest in its operations," Gov. Phil Bryant said. "The jobs being created by Contract Fabricators as a result of this expansion speak to the fact that Mississippi has a skilled, dedicated workforce, and I thank the company for once again placing its confidence in our workers and in our business climate. I wish the company much success in Tishomingo County."

As an incentive, the Mississippi Development Authority supported Contract Fabricators with this project, providing assistance for the purchase of the facility in which Contract Fabricators is located, as well as assistance for the construction of an on-site barge facility.

"We're grateful to Contract Fabricators for its investment in Tishomingo County and its commitment to create fifty new jobs for Mississippians," said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. "Contract Fabricators has been a valued member of our state's business community for nearly three decades, and we are pleased MDA was able to work with our partners in Tishomingo County to assist with this expansion."
