A developer, manufacturer, and distributor of high performance coatings for the automotive, transportation, general industrial and architectural and decorative industries, Axalta Coating Systems, will relocate its global headquarters to a 30,000-square-foot facility in Center City Philadelphia at Two Commerce Square and its North American headquarters to a 55,000-square-foot facility in Concord Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

The combined project is expected to generate a capital investment in excess of $11.4 million, and initially bring more than 100 jobs to Philadelphia and more than 230 to the township.

“We are tremendously excited about our new facilities in Pennsylvania,” explained Charlie Shaver, Chairman and CEO of Axalta Coating Systems. “New offices are a vital element in our plan to communicate our independence and new identity to our customers, our employees and other stakeholders in the U.S. and around the world.”

“We appreciate the partnership of Governor Corbett and his Action Team, Mayor Nutter, the city’s Department of Commerce and the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, the leadership of Delaware County, the County Redevelopment Authority and Concord Township, Select Greater Philadelphia and others for enabling us to establish our new offices here,” said Shaver. “We’re already taking advantage of our new home town. I will host a meeting of our global executive team next week at Two Commerce Square and, at the end of the month, we will convene our first global R&D conference bringing more than one hundred of our top scientists from around the world to Philadelphia for a three day meeting.”

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, Delaware County Commerce Center, and Select Greater Philadelphia.

The company received a funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development including a $1.3 million Pennsylvania First Program grant, and $996,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to assist with the company’s global and North American headquarters move.

“Axalta’s move to Center City brings some 100 new jobs to Philadelphia and is yet another demonstration that companies are once again investing and creating jobs in our city,” Mayor Michael A. Nutter said.

“We are thrilled that the fifth-largest supplier of high performance coatings in the world has decided to locate their 200 plus employee North American headquarters in Concord Township,” Chairman Tom McGarrigle of Delaware County Council said. “

"Select Greater Philadelphia is pleased to have helped Axalta Coating Systems grow in Greater Philadelphia,” Thomas Morr, president and CEO of Select Greater Philadelphia said. “The entire region will benefit from the jobs that will be created and the supply chain opportunities that will occur thanks to having Axalta locate both its global and U.S. headquarters here.”
