Pro Food Systems Inc., parent company of Champs Chicken, a wholesaler and distributor of food products and deli equipment to supermarkets and convenience stores, is investing $6 million to expand its operations and construct new headquarters in Holts Summit, Missouri, with plans to create 43 jobs.

The food producer primarily markets and distributes Champs Chicken products sold at supermarkets and convenience stores in 29 states. Its expansion will include the addition of a breading and blending facility, logistics service center, and print companies. Its new state-of-the-art facility, scheduled to open in summer 2013, will be nearly 65,000 square feet and include frozen, fresh, and dry storage areas. In addition, it will consolidate operations and allow 10 times the current capacity. Other highlights include: 18,000 square feet of new office space, demonstration kitchen, workout facility, larger break room, and outside areas.

The company said its new facility, located adjacent to its current corporate office in Holts Summit, will accommodate the growing company while offering more economical operations for its clients. "This new facility will allow us to streamline operations, reduce our distribution costs, and become all around more efficient," says Shawn Burcham, CEO and President of PFS. "Greater efficiency means greater profits for our retailers."

Burcham added he has high expectations that the company will exceed their growth plans. "I have worked extremely hard to keep our new corporate headquarters and distribution center in Holts Summit. The success of this company is based on a solid set of core values and it is a total team effort. Every single member of our staff contributes substantially."

"We are pleased that another homegrown Missouri company like Pro Food Systems is increasing its investment in the Show-Me State, with plans to create 43 new jobs for hardworking Missourians," said Chris Pieper, Acting Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

As an incentive assist Pro Food Systems with its expansion, the Department of Economic Development authorized an economic incentive package that includes incentives from the Enhanced Enterprise Zone and Community Development Block Grant programs.
