Capital One Financial Corporation is adding more than 1,000 positions to its Virginia work force in 2010 and 2011. The company plans to open a new call and operations center next year in Henrico County, where it will create 700 jobs.

"Virginia is Capital One's headquarters, and has been a great foundation for our company growth for more than two decades," said Richard D. Fairbank, Capital One's chairman and CEO. "The strength and resilience of Capital One's business model served us well during the recession and we are well-positioned as we emerge on the other side. As always, we will continue to focus on providing exceptional products and service to our customers in Virginia and across the nation, and we are proud to expand our presence in Virginia where it all began."

Capital One was founded and has headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Governor Bob McDonnell approved a $300,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund towards the project. Through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide funding and services to support hiring and training.

The company also considered sites in Florida and Texas.
