L3Harris Technologies, a global aerospace and defense technology provider, is expanding its operations in Cascade Township, Michigan. The $2.58 million project is expected to create 50 jobs.

The company is looking to consolidate its manufacturing footprint and plans to bring operations from several out-of-state locations into its Cascade facility, which currently employs 234 people. The facility designs, assembles and tests “black boxes” of a variety of sizes, as well as surveillance and display equipment for aircraft and flight data monitoring services.

According to Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the project will be supported by a $500,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.

L3Harris Technologies supplies a variety of services, systems, and products to the commercial aviation OEMs and operators as well as the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. government intelligence agencies, NASA and other customers.

The Governor’s Office said the project will continue to grow Michigan’s advanced manufacturing sector and will further boost the state as a hub for commercial and defense-related aviation manufacturing and R&D.?
