Global consumer product and food manufacturer Unilever will invest $100 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Covington, Tennessee, according to the Nashville Business Journal. The company plans to add 275 new jobs at the facility, which currently produces the Slim-Fast brand of weight-loss foods and products. Unilever, which is jointly headquartered in the Netherlands and United Kingdom and has its U.S. headquarters in New Jersey, plans to add 32,000 square feet of freezer space at the plant to facilitate production of the Breyers, Klondike, Good Humor, and Popsicle brands of ice cream and frozen snack products. The Tennessee governor's office says construction on the expansion will begin during the first quarter of 2010.
