Area Development
Brevini USA, the U.S. subsidiary of an Italy-based transmissions manufacturer, will invest $60 million to relocate its corporate headquarters and construct a new manufacturing facility in Yorktown, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. More than 450 new jobs are planned with the project. The company will move its headquarters and design center into an existing 60,000-square-foot facility, then construct an additional 150,000-square-foot plant that will manufacture gear boxes for wind turbines. Brevini will begin hiring engineers, accountants, customers service staff, and assembly technicians in 2009. Incentives offered to the company include up to $3.9 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $300,000 in training grants from the state; additional local incentives include an extension of rail service to the site and property tax abatement.
