Information technology giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) will open a new advanced manufacturing facility in Chongqing, China, expanding its presence in the western part of the country. Company officials say they will build a 20,000-square-meter (approximately 215,278-square-foot) production facility that will produce notebook and desktop PCs. "We look forward to expanding opportunities for local talent in the heart of China to help us better serve the Chinese market for computing products and services," says Todd Bradley, executive vice president of HP's Personal Systems Group. HP says the city of Chongqing has 500,000 university students and more than 1,000 research and development institutions. No financial details about the deal were released.
