Heartland Recreational Vehicles will create more than 400 new jobs over the next four months at its headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana, according to the Indianapolis Star. The company says a recent spike in sales and a backlog of dealer orders has created a need to expand production of its towable recreational vehicles (RVs). "We're looking for a big year in 2010, and Heartland is already preparing by beefing up our production work force," says Brian Brady, the company's president and CEO, quoted in the Star. The Associated Press reports that other RV companies in the Elkhart area have also recently announced hiring plans, an upward turn from the thousands of industry layoffs in the area over the past two years.
