A&R Bulk-Pak, Inc., a contract packaging company specializing in the packaging and distribution of plastics for overseas export, is establishing operations in Berkeley County, South Carolina.

In an effort to better serve its expanding customer base and handle the coming plastics production surge from the Gulf Coast, the 30-year company is investing in the construction of a $7.5 million state-of-the-art packaging and distribution facility, which will create 25 new jobs in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

To house its operations, a new 240,000-square-foot facility on 27.5 acres will be built in three phases. Rail storage capacity for more than 100 railcars will be featured on site. The new location will be the first packaging facility to open its doors in the Southeast, with the specific purpose of receiving Gulf Coast originating plastic resin earmarked for export.

“Since day one, our experience in South Carolina has been tremendous. From the highly motivated leadership at the state and county levels to the exceptional folks at the South Carolina Ports Authority and CSX Railroad, it is clear we have an extraordinary support team in place, which is second to none. Our industry is readying for an explosion in plastic exports and we are truly excited to get to work at our new facility – we honestly can’t wait, A&R Bulk-Pak, Inc. President Avi Ron said.

“An ideal destination for business, South Carolina boasts tremendous transportation and logistics advantages, and today’s announcement by A&R Bulk Pak is a testament to that. I congratulate the company on deciding to establish its first facility in the Palmetto State and look forward to watching them become a thriving member of our Lowcountry business community, said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“A&R Bulk-Pak’s announcement is exciting for South Carolina and our Port. Its operations will be a significant addition to Charleston’s ability to handle growing export commodities such as resins and grains, which represent significant volume opportunities for SCPA,” S.C. Ports Authority President/CEO Jim Newsome explained.
