Japanese auto part maker Elesys North America is investing more than $20 million and creating 150 jobs in Suwanee, Georgia. The company will begin the expansion of its North American headquarters and production site in January 2011.

"We have seen our business continue to flourish in Gwinnett," said Akio Kobayashi, president of Elesys. "With the help of Gwinnett Technical College and Georgia's QuickStart, we have been able to grow our business to offer additional products to our partners, customers and distributors."

Elesys produces passive vehicle safety systems, such as airbag control units. It also manufactures active safety systems that control braking, steering, and suspension.

The company has won the Triple Award for Outstanding Quality, Delivery, and Performance from Honda of America Manufacturing for four years in the row, making it the only Honda supplier to earn this distinction.
