White Construction, Inc., a contractor for renewable energy projects, will invest $10.2 million to build a new headquarters near its existing facilities in Clinton, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The company, which will create up to 70 new jobs over the next three years, constructs wind and solar farms and biomass and geothermal power plants. Plans are to construct a new 50,300-square-foot headquarters facility that will be LEED-certified. "Our focus in emerging green energy markets like wind and biomass has accelerated the growth of our company," says Herman "Buddy" White, White Construction's owner and CEO. "White Construction started in Vermillion County over 60 years ago. Our key people are here and our history is here. It only made sense to us to continue our growth and keep our corporate headquarters here in Indiana." The state has offered the company up to $470,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $87,500 in training grants, contingent on job creation, and an additional grant of $145,000 will be offered for improvements to water, road, and sewer at the site; the county will also provide property tax abatement. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
