Metal products manufacturer and fabricator Commercial Metals Company will establish a micro mill in Berkeley County, West Virginia. The $450 million project is expected to create roughly 230 jobs.

The new facility in the Eastern Panhandle will have the capacity to produce 500,000 tons of straight-length rebar and a premium spooled rebar. Spooled rebar boasts less waste, increased productivity and improved safety. Operations are scheduled for late 2025.

Commercial Metals Company is a steel and metal manufacturer based in Irving, Texas. In the U.S., the company owns 41 scrap metal recycling facilities with a total annual capacity of 4.9 million tons, six electric arc furnace mini mills and two electric arc furnace micro mills and two re-rolling mills with a total annual capacity of 5.4 million tons, and steel fabrication facilities with a total annual capacity of 2.4 million tons. CMC turns scrap into new, sustainable steel products by recycling more than 19 billion pounds of metal each year.
